Lecture
Harold and Kumar Writers & Directors
Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are the writing/directing team behind the Harold & Kumar film franchise. Friends since high school in Randolph, New Jersey, Jon and Hayden sold their first screenplay “Filthy” to MGM while still in college, causing them to abandon plans of Investment Banking and Law School in favor of a Hollywood career that once seemed impossible.
Their first film, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, garnered critical acclaim and a legion of fans. The first mainstream Hollywood movie starring Asian-American leads, White Castle received two thumbs up from Ebert & Roeper and was declared, “one of the few recent comedies that persuasively, and intelligently, engage the social realities of contemporary multicultural America” by The New York Times. Jon and Hayden’s 2008 follow up, Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, received similar accolades, with Daily Variety referring to it as “Animal House meets Dr. Strangelove” and calling it “one of the ballsiest comedies to come out of Hollywood in a long time.”
Jon & Hayden will share their unlikely Hollywood story and will lead a discussion about exploring cultural diversity through comedy. The lecture will include clips from both Harold & Kumar films, as well as a no-holds-barred question and answer period.
The lecture will be opened and moderated by Dan Ahdoot - 3 time Campus Activities Award winner, writer for Comedy Central's Crank Yankers, and Finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing.
Ever wonder how those guys on TV seem to talk to the dead?
What about ESP and psychic surgery? How do street scams
and cons work? Want to know how YOU can trick your friends
into believing you have psychic powers? From fakers talking
to the dead, to identity theft, to homeopathic snake oils,
to psychic hotlines, "Scams, Sasquatch, and the Supernatural"
is going to step-by-step reveal all the tricks and techniques
used by the pros, and expose the shocking hidden stories
behind each scam. If Harvard offered a PhD in deceit, this
would be it. We'll make YOU an expert in America's most
beloved lies. This is no ordinary lecture: we're talking
hands-on experiments, a live performance of psychic surgery,
free giveaways of cash and prizes, and all the secrets TV
psychics DON'T want you to know. It's hosted by magician
Brian Brushwood, so it'll be funny magical, and (of course),
bizarre. Your school is going to tell you that this is a
"lecture." That you'll be "learning."
Don't be scared. You'll be learning how to spot fakes, and
how to avoid getting ripped off.
